In Escambia County, 54 percent of our youth have tried alcohol and almost 30 percent are more regular users, indicating having had alcohol in the 30 days before taking the survey.

In Santa Rosa, more than 57 percent of our youth have tried alcohol and 35 percent are more regular users, indicating having had alcohol in the 30 days before taking the survey. 

In both counties, binge drinking is even more common than some regular alcohol use and more common than use of marijuana.


After alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana are the most commonly drugs used by our youth in both counties.

In Escambia County, use of inhalants has increased from 4.4 percent in 2000 to 6.1 percent in 2006. 


Both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties rank low by youth in providing you with school rewards for pro-social behavior.  Bonding with school and the community is a protective factor for you that can increase when  youth are rewarded for their positive behavior.

More than 14 percent of Escambia County youth and more than 12 percent of Santa Rosa youth report having attacked someone with the intent to harm.


And in Escambia County, almost 14 percent of youth report being drunk or high at school.
