Alternative to Suspension is an optional method of discipline that schools can use instead of suspending a student.

Alternative to Suspension is a before or after-school, science-based violence prevention program aimed at teaching participants problem solving, anger management, and empathy skills in order for students to have pro social attitudes and interactions.

The goal of the program is to equip referred students with social and emotional skills and change negative attitudes and behaviors so they will decrease the behavior that put them in danger of suspension, as well as other risk behaviors.
