Improving Relationships is the Goal

Adolescents go through a lot of changes on their path to becoming an adult.  This can make your job as a parent especially difficult. 

You don’t have to struggle through this hard time alone.  Parenting adolescents just got a lot easier with Parenting Wisely, a free research based program to help you deal with challenging parenting issues. 

Parenting Wisely will help you handle problems such as:

                 * Negative peer influences

                 * Behavior problems

                 * Drug and alcohol use

                 * Skipping school/homework issues

The program is free and the sessions are worked around your schedule.  Most parents complete the program in four to six sessions.  Parents can choose to do the program on their own by using CD-ROMs at home, or with the assistance of the prevention specialist.

Parents learn new skills right away, such as using point systems and contracting.  Parents can improve relationships with their child by learning new communication and listening skills. 

Who can join?  Any parent who has one or more of the following:

                 * Parents with children between 11-15 yrs old

                 * Parents who need help in setting rules and                       consequences

                 *Parents with adolescents who have behavior                   problems (does not follow rules)

                 * Families  who have a hard time getting along

                 * Parents looking to improve parenting skills or                    discipline strategies
