The Link Between Alcohol and Other Dangers |

Research shows that almost 60% of Escambia and Santa Rosa County students have drank alcohol in their lifetime (2004 FYSAS).
The dangers of youth using alcohol are far greater than becoming intoxicated.
Savvy Parents know the danger signs! · Mood changes · School problems · Rebelling against family rules · Switching friends · New use of gum or mouthwash · Slurred speech · Sloppy appearance
Kids who drink are more likely to: · Be victims of violent crimes · Be involved in alcohol related traffic accidents · Have serious school related problems · Become sexually involved at an earlier age · Contract a sexually transmitted disease (STDs) · Have an unplanned pregnancy · Attempt suicide · Use illegal drugs
A teen who starts drinking at a young age is four times more likely to develop an alcohol dependency later in life.
